Dr. Cecilia B. Rosales, Class of 1972


Dr Cecilia B Rosalesrosales_ceciliaDr. Cecilia B. Rosales graduated from Pueblo High School in 1972. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona in 1976. In Mexico, she earned her Medical Doctorate in 1987 from the Universidad Autónoma de Cd. Juarez School of Medicine in Juarez, Chihuahua. By 1999, she became the Principal Investigator of the Arizona component in the US-Mexico Border Diabetes Project. Earning her Master of Science in Epidemiology in 2000 from the University of Arizona, Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health she also became Chief of the Office of Border Health.

In 2005, she became an Associate Professor of Public Health at the College of Public Health and is a co-leader of the newly funded Arizona Collaborative Public Health Training Center. In 2011, a veteran of border health issues, she was named Director of Phoenix Programs at the college. She has worked in the health arena for over thirty years and in the field of public health for twenty-five years in the areas of policy development and health disparities research along the U.S. Mexico border. She was Principal Investigator of a National Institutes of Health funded EXPORT Project focusing on eliminating health disparities. An active researcher, she is well published.

In 2006, she received a Presidential appointment to the US-Mexico Border Health Commission that continued until 2014. Dr. Rosales serves as Co-Principal Investigator of an international project funded by United Health Group that aims to build capacity and leadership.
