Rodolfo C. Bejarano, Pueblo High School Class of 1961. Born in Duncan, AZ, soon moved to Tucson where he attended C.E. Rose Elementary and Wakefield Junior High, then on to PHS. In 1965, Mr. Bejarano married ’61 PHS grad Esperanza Burruel.
He entered the University of Arizona earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1970 and in 1978, completed his Masters of Education in Guidance and Counseling. During that period, Rudy joined the military as an Infantry Officer and attached to the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade. Rudy served our country honorably and saw combat during two tours in Vietnam beginning in 1967 and again 1969. These were some of the most intense and trying days of his life. Rudy was honorably discharged in 1972 as a highly decorated Lieutenant-Colonel. Awarded three Bronze Stars, Purple Heart, Foreign Service Medal and two ARCOM commendations among others. He remained in the U.S. Army Reserves as an Officer until 1994.
Rudy was a Planner for the City of Tucson before becoming an Accountant and starting his own Professional Tax and Accounting Service. He remains quite active today: served as President, Vice President and Treasure of the Lion’s Club International. Most of us recognize that one of his most lauded accomplishments was being twice elected to the Tucson City Council where he served our citizens faithfully for eight years. Rudy is widely known as a very focused, passionate and diligent person; qualities that have guided him in a highly successful lifetime of achievements in our community. He makes time to serve as an usher at St. Augustine Cathedral and speak to Pueblo High School students at Sí Se Puede Day.
